Temporary Access to Resources Available due to COVID-19

Many resource providers expanded their access when institutions began to go online in spring 2020 due to the pandemic. These resources were temporarily available to help manage the abrupt move to online learning environments. To see if a resource is still active, look on the individual pages for details.

While these resources were temporary, please know many online resources are already available to JMU Libraries (via our current subscriptions, purchases, and consortia agreements). For more on those existing library resources, please visit the page for Library Resources Online. If you are looking for available textbooks or course materials, consider the VIVA Faculty Textbook Portal (requires eID authentication). The Portal contains over 200,000 titles from VIVA’s shared library collections, open textbooks, and books available for VIVA to purchase on behalf of public colleges and universities throughout the state.

Please let your liaison know if there is a resource that we no longer have access to that you would like the Libraries to subscribe to. As with all requests, we will evaluate the resource as appropriate.

Online Teaching and Learning Guide

If you are looking for online teaching resources from JMU Libraries, visit our Online Teaching and Learning Guide.

During the transition to online education, it may feel daunting for instructors to teach, and for students to learn, in new ways. JMU Libraries created the Online Teaching and Learning Guide to aid instructors and students in adapting to the online instruction format.
