COVID-19 Data Resources

The Academic Data Science Alliance is working with partners to pull together data and data science resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a living list of resources and we welcome additions, suggestions, and collaborations.

This is the data repository for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Visual Dashboard operated by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering (JHU CSSE). Also, Supported by ESRI Living Atlas Team and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU APL).

The New York Times is releasing a series of data files with cumulative counts of coronavirus cases in the United States, at the state and county level, over time. We are compiling this time series data from state and local governments and health departments in an attempt to provide a complete record of the ongoing outbreak.

The repository aims at unifying COVID-19 datasets across different sources in order to simplify the data acquisition process and the subsequent analysis.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Allen Institute for AI has partnered with leading research groups to prepare and distribute the COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (CORD-19), a free resource of over 45,000 scholarly articles, including over 33,000 with full text, about COVID-19 and the coronavirus family of viruses for use by the global research community.

The COVID-19 Data Repository is a repository for data examining the social, behavioral, public health, and economic impact of the novel coronavirus global pandemic.

Our article on the Coronavirus Disease [COVID-19] presents daily global and national statistics on the number of cases and deaths from the outbreak. Initially we relied only on data from the World Health Organization (WHO). Since March 19 our data is sourced from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Datasets and publications from that are related to COVID-19 are being made freely available via the Dimensions platform.

Twitter's terms of service don't allow tweet datasets to be published on the web, but they do allow tweet identifier datasets to be shared. This speaks to users rights as content creators, while also allowing researchers to share their data with others.

In the month of April, this webinar series will cover the Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN). VODAN is a GO FAIR Implementation network setup to help fight COVID-19, and set foundations for future virus-based health crises.
