The Makery: Textile Arts
Guide with resources for The Makery in Rose and Carrier Libraries
The Rose Makery has a collection of tools and supplies for sewing and knitting, including:
(2) modern Bernina 1008 Sewing Machines
Vintage 1950 Singer Sewing Machine
Iron and Ironing Board
Yarn Swift and Ball Winder
Various Measurement and Marking Tools (rulers, chalk, fabric pens, etc.)
Rotary Cutter and Cutting Mats
A variety of shears, scissors, and snips.
Snaps, Buttons, Zippers, etc.
Everyone in the JMU community is welcome and encouraged to use our textile arts facilities; however, you must complete a brief training on how to use the machine and must sign a form stating that you'll follow a few basic safety rules before you may do so. The easiest way to receive training is by attending one of our workshops!
