Items not physically available at any of our library locations can request it through Interlibrary Loan
- this service is currently only available for JMU students, faculty, and staff; community members are NOT eligible to use this service
- to qualify as a distance learner eligible for requesting interlibrary loans, a user must:
- be a JMU instructor or student registered in a JMU online course
- live more than than 50 miles from the JMU campus
- learn more about ILL and distance learning here
ILL requests can be requested to be picked up at any of the following locations:
- Rose Library
- JMU Libraries Express @ 1050 South Main Street
- Music Library (located in the basement of the Music building on the quad)
- ETMC (located inside Memorial Hall
Departmental Delivery is available on the condition that staff and/or faculty have up to date work addresses listed in their MyMadison account!
ILL items CANNOT be renewed by any libraries staff outside of the ILL department; users must sign in to the ILL portal using their eID username and password to message ILL staff.
- The below options can be offered to users trying to renew ILL items:
- they can log in to their ILL account and select the item they would like renewed from their "Checked Out to You" list and try to renew it themselves through the ILL portal
- they can contact ILL staff directly at interlib@jmu.edu
- let them know there's a chance their item may not be able to be renewed; renewals are granted at the request of wherever the item came from
Items requested through ILL can be returned at any of the following JMU Libraries' locations:
- inside at the service desk in Rose Library or at the Rose Library book drop located on Alumni Drive on East Campus
- inside at the service desk at JMU Libraries Express located at 1050 South Main Street or at the JMU Libraries Express book drop located in Parking Lot K (also located at 1050 South Main Street)
- inside at the service desks at both the Music Library and ETMC in Memorial Hall
