What are my rights as an author?
- Copyright and author's rights (GWU)All authors need to be familiar with basic concepts of copyright in today's scholarly communication landscape. All too frequently, authors give away their rights to their intellectual property to publishers who then reap all of the financial benefit from the deal and then turn around and charge authors and the institutions that supported their research to have access to the scholarly content.

- Why have I been asked to pay to publish?Article Processing Charges (APCs) are charged to authors of scholarly articles during the publication process. Just because a journal has an APC doesn't mean it's automatically vanity publishing .
