If you encounter disruptive behavior during an online class, you have a number of options in Zoom and Webex, outlined below.
Quick Zoom Help
Zoom has a number of options for managing participants during a meeting:
- Mute the participant’s audio
- Click on the Participants icon in the Zoom window
- Locate the individual you wish to mute
- Click on the microphone icon to mute them
- Note: muting all participants is the quickest way to silence disruptive behavior. To do so, click on the participants icon and click Mute All
- Disable the participant’s video
- Click on the Participants icon in the Zoom window
- Click on the individual participant name
- Click more and select Stop Video
- Remove a participant
- Click on the Participants icon in the Zoom window
- Click on the participant you want to remove and click more next to their name
- Click Remove from the list

Webex has a number of options for managing participants during a meeting:
- Mute the participant’s audio
- To mute or unmute specific people, go to the Participants panel, find their name, and click Mute using the microphone icon.
- Disable the participant’s video
- From the Participants panel, the host can right-click on a particular user and select Stop Video to turn off that user's video stream.
- Remove a participant
- From the Participants panel, the host can right-click on a particular user and click Remove From Meeting
