Information Literacy in music research, performing, and education

Evaluating Printed Music

Today's gap in media literacy is exacerbated by the easy availability of scores of various qualities via online hosting sites like International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) and self-publishing sites like Sheet Music Plus (SMP).  Students struggle to assess the relative merits of different editions available either digital formats or traditional hardcopy, and choose editions for both performance and research without considerations of quality and purpose.

This 1-hour workshop is intended for music history, literature, and pedagogy classes, and studio seminars.  It is easily adaptable to individual circumstances and needs.
