What is Alma?
- Alma is the circulation software we use here at JMU Libraries to check out materials and other items to our patrons
- Every JMU Library user has a patron account through Alma that we as staff are able to access in order to view their current loans, lost items, requests, etc.
What you'll be using Alma for:
- You, as a libraries employee, will be able to access users' Alma accounts to renew items for them, put items on hold for them, and more
- Should you encounter a user account with issues such as fines, lost items, etc. please get with your supervisor immediately
Required Alma Training
- training for Alma is mandated by JMU Libraries and must be completed before using Alma
- in addition to Alma training you will also be learning about FERPA privacy policies regarding users' personal information
- please locate and complete the "Alma Training" module in the JMU Library and Information Services course in Canvas; once finished please let your supervisor know (and get ready for some hands on training!)
